GSCORE was very excited to participate in the inaugural Denmark Employment, Education, and Training Expo on the 9th August 2018. The Expo provided an opportunity for students from the Denmark High School and Denmark Agricultural College to learn more about training and employment opportunities in the region.

Julia Scriven, GSCORE’s Training and Development Officer was on hand to talk about training pathways in outdoor recreation. She also spoke about her own work history, how she got involved in outdoor education, and why it is important to get more kids outdoors more often.

“Outdoor education is an important part of the curriculum. It develops a lifelong interest and passion for the environment and encourages healthy, active lifestyles,” she said.

“There are also some wonderful careers in the outdoors for students who have a particular passion for recreation activities. These include opportunities in tourism, sports development and coaching, outdoor education, and even mental health and community development.”

GSCORE is currently working on an outdoor training and employment pathway project. Contact us to find out more.
