Beyond the Wheelchair

Rebound WA is running a FREE community Adaptive Mountain Biking Come-n-Try workshop in Albany as part of Bike Week.

The presentation will be run by accredited coach, motivational speaker and athlete with a disability, Andrew. He will speak about his personal story of a disability, adversity, bike safety, adaptive equipment, programs and the power of volunteering.

The demonstration will be run in an adjacent court and will cover the basics of the varying adaptive cycles and a demonstration of equipment use and safety.

People are encouraged to try as many of the cycles as possible and will be tutored individually to ensure the correct use of equipment.

This event is recipient of a 2018 Bike Week grant, made possible by the Department of Transport and WestCycle.

Bicycles for Humanity Western Australia is part of an exciting global volunteer-run, non-profit organisation that uses donated bikes to help alleviate poverty through sustainable transport. Denmark Primary ride to school day

Denmark Mountain Bike Club in conjunction with the Denmark Primary School are hosting a Ride to School Day for Bike Week. The event encourages students, parents and staff to ride their bike to Denmark Primary School on Friday, 16 March. Upon arrival a healthy breakfast will be prepared and served for all participants and bike users.

The club will also facilitate ‘skills sessions’ throughout the day for a selection of Primary School Classes. The skills sessions will involve urban courses, small jumps and rollovers in addition to bike education. This event will not only promote and encourage people to ride for transport purposes but will also focus on making riding fun and explore a variety of ways bikes can be used to complement a healthy lifestyle.

Bike Week 2018

Bike Week, Western Australia’s annual celebration of bike riding, is back for 2018.

Presented in partnership by the Department of Transport and WestCycle, Bike Week 2018 will run from Friday 16th March to Sunday 25th March 2018.

Fun for all

Bike Week 2018 is a jam packed community shindig that’s open to all, whether you ride a little, a lot or you haven’t been on a bike in years. A diverse lineup of events across metropolitan and regional Western Australia offers something for everyone from casual bike riders and regular commuters to children, families, seniors and everyone in-between.

Pedalling on

For more than 30 years Bike Week has played an integral role in promoting bike riding across Western Australia. Past Bike Week events have included two wheeled treasure hunts, bike breakfasts, Ride2School Day, social rides, workshops, comedy shows, pedal-powered film screenings and much much more.

Bike Week Grant Program

The Department of Transport’s grant program helps organisations and groups to run Bike Week 2018 events. Full details about the grant program can be found here.
